Ciao!
So… I am officially back in Italy after spending 3 long months living at home in Whitby, Ontario. I really enjoyed the first couple of weeks of being home. I loved reconnecting with my friends and family and telling them all about my adventures in Italy. I talked about all of the good times, and even the not so good. For the first couple of weeks, everything was good, home felt the same, but different at the same time. However, once I had all of my reunions, reality sunk in that I literally have zero idea what I wanna do with my life (besides travel) and I had to work a job that I didn’t enjoy just to make money. Looking back now, it was all worth it and I know that I will eventually find what I am passionate about (and turn it into a job!).
…and NOW I’M BACK. I’ve been in Rome for just over 2 weeks now and it’s been a whirlwind so far. It feels strange living in an Italian city with no job or real plans. However, Megan and I are living in a super cute and trendy neighborhood called Monti and the apartment (rented through Air BnB) itself is amazing. We couldn’t have asked for a better apartment or location. So far we’ve spent our time wandering around Rome and went on a little day trip to a town 40 mins away by train. It’s really funny when we meet new people (Italians or other expats), they always ask us if we’re in Rome to study and when we say no, they ask us what we do then and we never know what to say😂 We both don’t have jobs (yet?!), so we’re merely living in Rome being tourists for a long time.
So what do we do?
This is a very good question. One that Meg and I are still trying to figure out to be honest. Luckily both of us right now can just live in Rome (jobless) and be able to get by for 3 months… however, on a budget for sure. We’ve just been living like locals. Grocery shopping, walking many kms, café hopping and trying new restaurants. We also have trips planned to other countries in Europe while we have a permanent apartment in Rome! So, stay tuned for some of our fun adventures outside of Italy. Side note: we’re actually going to a different continent next week…
Rome is such a big and beautiful city and even though I’ve now spent almost a month here (taking into account that I spent about 1.5 weeks here in Sept 2019), I still find myself stumbling upon new stunning places that I’ve never been. That is one of my favourite things about Rome – everywhere you go, everything is just so beautiful and old. There are ruins all over the city and all the buildings are so unique, yet the same?! Despite how old this city is with all of its imperfections, it is picture perfect and I cannot get enough of aimlessly wandering around every day.

Anyways, that’s all for now, just a quick introduction to my 3 months living in Rome! I am going to be posting on a more regular basis (I promise – I know I say this all the time) now because I have quite a bit of free time. So stay tuned for more blogs on Meg and I’s adventures in Rome and elsewhere!
Please leave a comment if you have any requests as to what I should write next, grazie! 🙂
