Afternoon Tea in Southend

Afternoon Tea in Southend

Hiya!

On one of my last days in the UK, I went to the best high tea I have ever had (not that I have had all that many). Talia and I took the train to Southend, stopped for a Pimms (I will not stop drinking Pimms ok) at a cute café and then Tracey picked us up and we drove down the road a little bit to the Roslin Beach Hotel. A super pretty hotel situated right on the water in Southend & they also offer a magical afternoon tea! We had a reservation for 2pm.

Talia and I ordered some alcoholic beverages and I switched things up and got Prosecco rather than white wine – adventurous, I know. Next, our endless amount of tea was delivered in a pot – I also drank my body weight in tea while I was in the UK. Man, they sure do love their tea – and not just “afternoon tea”, at literally ANY TIME of the day – morning, afternoon & night!!! It was cool to see the cultural differences and even just the “norms” that they have in the UK. Talia and I compared different sayings that we have in Canada vs. the UK and it was super funny.

Anyways, next up we got our tier of mini sandwiches, scones and desserts! Boy oh boy was everything super delicious. The atmosphere of the tea room was also super nice & it was so pretty and well decorated. This place sure knows how to do an amazing afternoon tea! Would definitely recommend if you every find yourself in lil ole Southend. I went to Southend back when I was in the UK in 2010 and it has definitely changed since then. However, they still had a booth where I could buy my toffee crunch to bring back to Canada so I was pleased 🙂

Overall, another great day spent with Tracey and Talia! My last day in the UK was spent doing some shopping with Tracey at a local mall and munchin on some Krispy Kreme donuts.

It was honestly so hard to say goodbye to the UK and my lovely family, whom I do not see as often as I would like. However, I am going to be moving a lot closer in May 2019… hint hint 😉

Finally!!! The last of my blogs from my UK & Paris trip… only took me a solid 3 months! Go me! Next up, I will make an announcement of a major life event that I decided upon a little while ago – putting my (academic) life on hold for a whole year. Because we’re only young once, right?!
